Namaste - Yoga Adepts

...come clear to me that sutras have but one goal: give the mind a stupendous jolt. As the mind is responsible for your survival, it cannot but create a sense of "self". To help the pupil circumvent the veil that the mind creates to keep that sense of "self" as a tangible reality, the stupendous "jolt" will keep the mind busy, maybe long enough for the pupil to realize he has the opportunity to go and take a look behind the veil.

Indeed, truth is like a many faceted diamond: it changes when there is an minute difference of the angle from which one looks at it. Two people looking at the same diamond at the same time will definitely and invariably produce quite remarkably different descriptions of the same stone. No wonder diamonds are referred to as the masters of the mineral kingdom.

Get a New Lease on Life and Create Peace

...e. Keep your mind always with you. Practicing this process is yoga.

Meditation is also a misused word. It means understanding or measuring the mind's contents. How do we do this? Closing your eyes is one way. However, most of us would probably fall asleep. Yoga for Mind - Body and Spirit

...Its now 9 Oclock in the morning and already the sun is high in the tropical sky. Heavy bulbous clouds herald the possibility of a rain shower later in the day, but then it has not rained here for several days and the luxuriant tropical plants in the garden that nestles down to the sea are looking in need of water. I am standing beside a sala, which is Thailand is an open sided wooden building and this one is no more than ten metres from the sea. The warm Gulf of Thailand is lapping on the beach as I stand and watch a yoga class of half a dozen participants energetically practising the poses or asanas that the teacher is urging them to try. She comes to recharge her batteries and get fit and healthy for her career driven life back home. Every morning she joins several other guests in one and a half-hours of Hatha Yoga as part of her mental ...more

...d period of meditation and relaxation.

integral
Created by Sri Swami satchidananda, this type of yoga is very gentle. Classes have a greater emphasis on the meditative rather than the physical aspects of yoga. integral Yoga is included in Dr. Dean Ornishs program, which has been shown to reverse heart disease.

Viniyoga
This style was created by T.K.V. Desikachar and is a therapeutic approach to yoga. It focuses on breathing in conjunction with movement. Viniyoga encourages modified postures to meet an individuals specific needs and abilities. It would be a valuable style for someone who is dealing with an injury or other physical restriction.

Once youve chosen a specific type of yoga, it doesnt mean you have to stay with it forever. You can choose to focus on another style for a while or mix several different types depending on how your mind and body feel. Whichever type you choose, the most important thing is to continue doing it on a regular basis so you can enjoy the rewards that yoga brings.
